I had a date with James yesterday. I picked him up at noon and we headed to Target, one of his favorite date places. We looked at toys, of course, and I let him linger in each aisle as long as he wanted. He LOVES to do that. I also made a list of all the things he said he wanted since his birthday is coming up. There are probably 50 things on the list. LOL. Lots to choose from.
Anyway, we looked at toys for probably an hour, and then we went to the Target food court place for lunch. He chose chocolate ice cream and cheese Doritos. Since it was a date, I went ahead and let him have that. I know, I know. But…I couldn’t help it. We were having SUCH a good time. We were at Target for an hour and a half or two hours, and we left with nothing but a loveseat cover for Grandma’s new office.
James has been just attached to my hip, which is not unusual but he’s more attached and even sweeter lately. Also, he knows that he has me wrapped around his little finger, so he gets away with everything. I know I’m creating a monster – I know in the very moments I’m doing it. But I just cannot help it right this minute. And it’s not like he is *bad* or anything. We’re talking he gets up out of bed a few times and pretends he’s thirsty or whatever, because he knows the minute I see him, I’ll grab him up and spend a few minutes holding and snuggling him.
And what about my girl? Well, for some reason, she is SO happy and un-pre-teen-ish these days. It is making my life so awesome. For example, I came home last night and she came out of her bedroom and said “MOMMY!!!” She was so excited to see me! She hugs me, talks to me, jokes with me, dances with me, sings with me, and it’s WONDERFUL. I know it might not last, so for the time being, I am going to soak it up and relish it, every single second.
Random – I think that the saying “long days, short years” is the most brilliant saying, and when I think about it, it’s hard for me not to cry.
Random – This morning, I saw the episode of I Love Lucy where Lucy tells Ricky she’s pregnant. I mean, that she’s having a baby. They couldn’t say “pregnant” on TV back then. Anyway, it makes me tear up every time.
I am down 26 pounds now! Waaaahoooooo!
James is having so much fun in t-ball. Well, I think he mostly enjoys the uniform and stuff. At his game on Saturday, he wanted to show Coach his sports socks. So he lifted his pant leg, stuck out his foot and said “OOOO, OOOO!!” You know, in the “raise the roof” type of way. OMG LOVE HIM.
Clara’s poor legs are completely torn up from soccer. She has an area on her shin about the size of, I dunno. Well it’s probably four or five inches long and three or four inches wide. It’s just like a rug burn from the grass. It’s awful. And she’s got a bruise the size of another I don’t know, but it’s huge. Poor girl. Takin’ ‘em for the team.
At Looney’s birthday dinner this past weekend, we went to Ton’s Mongolian grill. On their placemats is the Chinese birthday symbols or something. James was trying to read the word “Chinese” and he said “cuh-huh…” and I said “do you remember what CH sounds like?” And he said “CH! Ch-i-neeeeeeeez” AND HE TOTALLY READ IT. I MEAN COME ON.

Aunt Karen came into town yesterday. YAY! We spent the evening over at Mom’s and Dad’s and hung out with her. She’ll be here all week, so we’ll be there every day.
James is blowing my mind with all the reading he does. He is a full blown reader. Of course, we’re talking phonetically spelled words. But he can read and write any word like that. Everywhere we go, he sounds out all the words he sees. It really makes me so proud. He’s not even in kindergarten yet. The best part is that he’s excited that he can do this. He loves to try out his skills every chance he gets. That makes me so happy :)
Clara spent most of the weekend with her dad, but she comes home today. I’m so excited to have her for spring break, although she will still have soccer related activities on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. She is going to get her hair chopped off tomorrow – like Selena Gomez. While I hate to see her thick, long beautiful hair go, I know she’s going to look adorable with shorter hair. And…it’s just hair. Right, Aunt Karen??
As for me, I’m trying to find the motivation to get myself to the gym today. Typically I go on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Wow, I go a lot! I never realized it. Go me! This week, however, I did not go on Sunday and I’m reeeeeeeeeeally having to give myself a pep talk about today (Tuesday). I’m down 22 lbs from when I started Weight Watchers, but that is just the beginning of where I need to be. I have a long way to go. It’s not time for me to slack off. So if you see me today, tell me to go to the gym.

KJ
I asked James, "do you want to watch Paul Blart, Mall Cop?"
James replied, "hey, is that the movie with that guy Kevin James?"
LOL!
So we all watched it, all four of us, plus the dog and the cat. Cute.
Remind me to tell you about my trip to Vegas.
