So this weight watchers thing is working. Yay! I had boxed up a bunch of clothes a few months ago…clothes that I’d bought as “really fat clothes, clothes so big that you’ll never even be big enough to wear these” clothes…and I had gotten to the point where I couldn’t even get these giant clothes over my THIGHS.
Anyway. I decided that I’d just see where I was in the process of fitting back into my humongoclothes…and guess what? THEY FIT! They all fit! So yay, I’m back to gigantic, rather than bigger-than-gigantic!
But seriously – I couldn’t be happier about the progress I’ve made. I’m down 26.6 lbs since January 3 and that is just fine with me. I’ve made it through Easter, my birthday, Scott’s birthday, James’s birthday, Cindee’s birthday, Looney’s birthday, Andrew’s birthday, Karen’s birthday and so on and so forth (sorry if I didn’t mention your birthday specifically)! So…I think that I’m doing really well. And I am all the more motivated because of the physical proof of success in the clothes I put BACK in my closet yesterday :)
Clara has been working on clearing out her room for the last several weeks. Yes, I said weeks. It is taking that long. And she’s only about halfway through. I’d finally had enough, and I showed her where to start, handed her some boxes and a trash bag and told her to go through EVERYTHING inch by inch, and get it done. She found brand new, unopened stuff from Christmas (4 months ago), her birthday (6 months ago!!) and even found a check for $50 from her grandma from 2008! I told her that’s why she can’t let her room get like it was – that was $50 she lost out on! Of course, when she called Grandma and told her what I told her to say (LOL), Grandma told her to tear up the check and that she’d write her another one. Aw, what a good grandma!
Anyway, I keep coming into Clara’s room while she’s working to admire the new spaces she’s found on the floor. I’ll just come in and stare at them. And talk about them. And then I have to apologize for being weird. But I need her to get this stuff done because Dad and I are going to build some shelves for her room. I found this AWESOME blog at www.knockoffwood.blogspot.com. This chick rocks! She takes designer furniture and makes plans and instructions for anyone to be able to build the piece for much less. Yes, yes...we have our work cut out for us. But I LIKE doing this kind of thing. Both my parents are into DIY stuff, and I guess I kind of got that from them. Plus, it’s always fun to spend time with Dad :) I’m excited!
James, as always, continues to crack me up AND amaze me. First of all, the things that came out of his mouth yesterday were out of control. First, he let me know that he understood that it takes longer for a mommy to make a boy baby in her tummy. Why? Well, because he has to grow a penis, of course…and that takes a while. But the best was the following conversation we had on our way home from Target:
Me: No, you buckle first. People are more important [than stuffed animals].
James: Well, family is the MOST important.
Me: Yes, and families are made of people.
James: Yep, and people are made of meat.
HAHHAAHAHAHAH! Whatever dude. I mean, it’s true. So…
Then last night, I told him to pick up his room, and he had to start with 10 things (it’s a trick I use all the time to get him to clean up). And so I heard him count as he picked up, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.” And he came in and said “did you hear what I did? I picked up 5 things two times, and that made 10 things!”
I was like, “uh, James, you are doing multiplication, did you know that?” So we started talking about what that meant, and I started asking him 2x3, 3x2, 4x2, etc. Little ones like that. And he totally gets it! He’s FIVE, yawl. I mean, he’s been five for one week, as of today. And he’s reading like crazy still. I know. I know! I don’t want to be a mom who thinks her kid is a genius, and I know that kids do this at different times in their lives, and I know that everyone his age will catch up and he’ll be just like everyone else…but for NOW, my five year old is doing (and understanding) multiplication and reading everything he can. I mean, that’s kind of amazing, right? He said he wants to start doing flashcards with math problems so he can get them down. I mean, it was my suggestion but he wants to do it. Yay!
